What is the right way of applying afoundation? Liquid foundation to be specific?

Well, I became a little bit confused lately because I have a friend who applies her liquid foundation thickly because she said she wants to totally cover her pimple scars and discolorations. The problem is, it's too thick that it would later cake out and it doesn't look natural anymore. Is that really how you apply foundation? To completely cover unwanted marks on your face? When I apply foundation, I only apply enough but it doesn't totally cover my scars because they're a bit hard to conceal completely, and I don't use concealer because I don't like the feeling of having too much makeup on my face. I think a girl should put that much foundation if she's going to a photoshoot, not for everyday wear. But am I the one who's wrong about it? No trash comments please. Thanks. ,';)What is the right way of applying afoundation? Liquid foundation to be specific?
Never apply foundation thick like that...if you are THAT self concious about your acne/scars then use a concealor, or you can get whats called a ';full coverage'; foundation. (there are light, medium and full coverage depending on how much you want to cover up). Apply the liquid in spots sporatically over your face (dot on nose, couple on cheeks, couple on forehead, on chin) then use your finger to smooth it out and blend it together. Some people prefer spones, but I find that when you can't feel the texture of the skin, you tend to get un-even distrobution of the makeup. Then to finish off over liquid, use a light powder. This will make you look finished, and not shiny.

IT IS OKAY to wear makeup to cover up your acne/scars all day. the KEY is to wash your face EVERY morning and Night (you get as much dirt and oil on your face while sleeping that you do during the day). At first your acne may get slightly worse from this, but this is only because it is all coming to the surface after being properly cleaned. Within a couple of weeks, that extra acne as well as your old acne will start to clear up, and if you stick with the wash, wear makeup, wash, regimine, your face will be clearer and you will end up wearing less makeup later on! If you have any questions on this, feel free to email me! I can answer any thing you need to know about cleansers as well as makeup products.

Hope this helps! What is the right way of applying afoundation? Liquid foundation to be specific?
Liquid foundation has a tendency to cake into those very things you are trying to cover. I prefer minerals, like Avon or Bareminerals (I use them both) they do not cake on and draw attention to the things you are trying to disguise, and it looks much more natural. If I ever do use Liquid (eek) I use a sponge to apply, as it makes the foundation go on smoother and more even. Tell your friend that less is more. It took me a while to learn and become confident with that, but it's true.
hey no ithink ur right idont wear lots of foundation because it makes u get more spots and pimples because pores become blocked ...you should apply it lightly with a sponge applicator brush hope this helps
NO!!!! do not wear foundation thickly.. it looks fake ugly ugly and UGLY!!!

take a new cotton pad or sponge.. pour a little foundation on your hand.. use the pad/sponge and kinda dip it in.. and apply on your face with circular motion..
Most people wear the wrong foundation and wear it incorrectly so your questions is not unusual nor uncommon.

The goals of foundation are to protect the skin from environmental damage and to even out skin tone. And the right shade can make the skin look smooth and flawless

You want a non-comedogenic product that is oil free. Foundation should match your skin tone completely not change the coloring. skin care is the key to taking care of your skin foundation is not meant t o replace that.

Oh one more thing when applying foundation always go down not circular or up when you go up it will not cover the flaws it will make them more prominent
apply it evenly so that is looks like your skin don't cake it on it will look like your fake try a very thin layer first if it is too lite put another layer on the trick to makeup is to make it wear it looks like you don't have any on
You are not wrong, but she just may not know how to conceal imperfections any other way. There are a lot of products she can try that give full coverage without using too much product. The other thing she should invest in is a foundation primer. If she puts that on first it will help the foundation go on smoother and stay on longer. I use Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, she should use the Green Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Foundation Primer it will minimize her redness. Then, depending on how bad her blemishes are, she can use a concealer to spot treat, but make sure she blends. There are a couple of foundations I'll recommend. One that you can get at Wal-Mart or Walgreens (any store like that) is Maybelline Wonder Finish...they actually discontinued it, but it's still in stores... The other one is Bare Minerals, it's always a good coverage and never looks caked on. I actually use it myself.
