Is it hygienic to use your fingers to apply liquid foundation?

I use a make up brush that I wash either every day or every other most of the time and keep it clean.

But some people suggested that I use a make up sponge and I've heard all the horror stories of bacteria in them.

Also, a lot of people say they use their fingers. I know that they clean them first, but still, is clean?

Thanks!!!Is it hygienic to use your fingers to apply liquid foundation?
Hi there!

I'm a Makeup Artist and I hope you find my advice helpful.

Yes, a makeup brush would definitely be your best bet to use for applying liquid foundation, just because it gives you an even finish. Whereas using your fingers, would leave it a bit streaky and uneven. And of course using your fingers will just cause a little bit of a mess. I'm sure you wouldn't want product on your fingers :o)

you can use your make-up brush/foundation brush and even it out with a kabuki brush afterwards. The kabuki brush will smooth out any harsh lines made my the foundation.

A makeup sponge will also be great, but yes, bacteria buildup does happen when not cleaned properly or if used continuously.

I recommend you try to use makeup sponges, but ones that are disposable and come in bulk in a bag. You can get this at any drugstore. They are makeup sponge wedges. They're great for in between the eyes and nose, great for little hard to reach eye areas.

Hope this helps! GoodLuck! Is it hygienic to use your fingers to apply liquid foundation?
If your fingers have been washed right before you apply I don't see a hygienic problem however make up sponges work the best they allow for better and even coverage. You can buy a supply of them for around $1.50 or so at any target or drug store like walgreen's or longs. Be sure to throw them away or wash them after every use.
i think you should either use a sponge because u can rub it in more . with a brush u cant rub it in you will have a line all around your face from where the brush havent rubbed it in properly and you could use your fingers if you wanted to but it will leave finger prints and lines on your face .
well the sponge will give you more even distribution and about the horrors of bacteria what you are doing with the brush applies for the sponge wash it as well and it will be clean as for your fingers wash them as well and they are ok
ye, it's fine. but i usually use a make up sponge, it works much better, and it avoid having finger prints.
I buy big bags of make up sponges and consider them to be one use only.

You can use your fingers provided that you aren't sharing it.
I would use the brush. If you keep it clean then there's no problem...

Using your fingers can make your face more oily.
