0_0Is liquid foundation really supposed to be applied with a damp sponge?
NOPE! You do not HAVE to apply makeup a certain way; there are just several tricks and ideosyncrasies each person has for their own routine of applying makeup. Three ways of apply liquid foundation that I know of are:
- You could use a stippling brush which should give you a nice airbrushed look. First, put a bit of liquid foundation in a shallow cap (kind of like a mineral makeup one and also way more sanitary than dipping your brush into the actual bottle),, then swirl your makeup brush in it, and then, just keep stippling/dotting your whole face with the brush and liquid foundation on it. =)
- another way is using a foundation brush. A foundation brush is basically like a concealer brush but bigger and slightly looser. This way of applying liquid foundation will give you the most full coverage of the three ways. Just keep blending and try not to apply too much when using this technique because it may start to look cakey! Blending is key for this one!
- the last technique I know for applying liquid foundation is as you have mentioned, with a sponge. A sponge is the least sanitary technique, yet absorbs/wastes the most makeup! I don't really recommend this method because although it is definitely the cheapest one, you may get breakouts from the less sanitary conditions of a sponge, and sponges tend to absorb a LOT more of your makeup than you need it to. Blending is very VERY important with this technique too. If you don't blend it well/correctly, you may look streaky soon after your makeup has set. Also! - to try to salvage some of the makeup you may waste with this method, dampen the sponge first before using it. (Dampen it by first immersing it in water then squeezing it with your hands.)
That's it!
HOPE I HELPED! =DIs liquid foundation really supposed to be applied with a damp sponge?
applying it with a damp sponge is not necessarily wrong. each person has her own pay of applying makeup, there's no wrong way, whichever works for you. but on the plus side, applying liquid foundation with a damp sponge allows you to save your makeup because once a sponge is damp, it doesn't absorb as much makeup as it does when it's dry. and it also helps the makeup to apply smoother onto the skin.
There are 3 different ways to apply it
hands, makeup sponge, and foundation brush
I always use my hands, although you have to make sure they are really clean because your hands have natural oils on them that could spread to your face which isnt good. however the coverage that you get from using your hands is amazing, and i never get any makeup lines.
foundation brushes are my 2nd choice, you just dab it into some foundation (i squirt out some foundation onto a blank cd to use it as a palate) and spot it on your face, then buff it out all over. it comes out really smooth and it does a good job using an all over application of it. make sure to clean the brush however, after every use or else bacteria and gunk can get in it and grow and its not good. you can really ruin a brush by not taking care of it.
lastly, the sponge. i hope your not talking about a kitchen sponge! *juust kidding!** one of the downsides to using the makeup sponge is that you really lose a lot of product in the sponge when you go to use it. although its also a good way to apply, ive never really liked this way that much. again, like the brush youd have to wash it everytime you use it, or you can just buy a whole ton of them for really cheap at walmart or the $1 store and just trash them after every use./
any more questions, just msg me or email.
hope it helps, xoxo
You can use a makeup sponge (why damp? not necessary) to get a smooth finish on your foundation, but sponges soak up so much of the product and if you don't use a new one every time they'll harbor bacteria. I like foundation brushes much better - easy to clean and they don't waste nearly as much foundation.
it depends what kind of sponge you're using.
No to a dish sponge
Yes to a make-up foam sponge (they are white and in the shape of a triangle)
I'm not 100% sure if they are supposed to be damp
no, that just slightly adjusts the consistency. trust me i have gone to beauty school and have been a makeup artist for several years.
a lot of people do it that way.
i like using a brush personally. it feels better on my skin too.
no your supposed apply powder foundation with a wet sponge to give maxim coverage since its so light weight take care
no people wet the sponge so that less makeup seeps into the sponge
yeah, it goes on better and the sponge doesnt suck up the foundation :]
